Jett

Ridge has a very special kid in his class this year. His name is Jett. From day one, Ridge would come home and tell me about his friend Jett who just isn't as strong as everyone else and gets tired a lot. Jett has Duchenne Muscular Dustrophy. So he will not ever be able to really play football. So as a community, they put on a special foot ball game just for Jett. Everyone was involved. The Thatcher football players gave him a helmet and jersey. You should have been there to feel the emotion in the room. The teams were made up of other kids/friends/ and family members. I was amazed to watch these kids on these teams, both on Jett's team and the opposing team, allow Jett to be the star. They ran slow, they ran towards him, they let him make touch downs. With every play, the whole crowd would go crazy and tears were on everyone's face. What a neat experience. Ridge got to be a cheer leader for his classmate and he LOVED it. I have to say, this is a huge reason I love being in a small town. What a neat experience.
